Today Amazon announced that Prime members will have access to free streaming of over 5,000 movies and TV shows. Obviously, they want a share of the market that Netflix and Hulu have been cornering. I'm excited to check out what they offer as I am a member of Amazon Prime. It's $79 for the year and is worth it for the free 2-day shipping on all orders - especially if you buy a lot of books like I do. It might seem like a lot of $$ but it works out to about $6.60/month. With the streaming service it's practically a steal.
Pro tip: Amazon offers a free year of Prime for students who can provide a valid .edu email address. Good marketing because that is how I initially became hooked.
(We will save all the evils of Amazon - of which there are many - for a later time.)
